Nwagbaraocha Earns POW Honor

Oskaloosa–Vashti Nwagbaraocha (Sr., Milwaukee Wis., Exercise Science) led her team to a pair of league wins last week and for her efforts she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday.

Nwagbaraocha collected her third career award (first this year) as she guided the Statesmen (5-0, 2-0 Heart) to a pair of wins last week.

The senior averaged a double-double of 16.0 points and 11.0 rebounds, highlighted by a 17-point, 13-rebound showing against Evangel. In that outing, she was 7-for-9 from the field and 3-for-3 from the line, while also blocking five shots and dishing out three assists.

Her week began with 15 points and nine rebounds against Culver-Stockton.

For the year, Nwagbaraocha is averaging 18.2 points and 9.6 rebounds, both of which are team highs. The forward has also notched 11 assists, 11 steals, and nine blocks, while shooting 63.8% from the field and 81.0% at the line. She has posted two double-doubles this year.

The award is the first for the team this year.
