NM Shut-out by LS

SULLY – North Mahaska had runners on base in their baseball encounter with Lynnville-Sully Friday but was unable to move any of the runners across the plate. The Hawks walked six NM batters and hit another but no-hit the Warhawks to earn a 10-0 South Iowa Cedar League victory.

North Mahaska also walked eight and hit two batters while yielding eight hits to the Hawks. North Mahaska (2-2) gave up seven runs in the second inning and saw Lynnville-Sully add singles runs in the third, fourth and fifth to end the game early.

Nate Sampson and Jason VanDerVeer took the mound for North Mahaska allowing 10 runs on eight hits. VanDerVeer struck out six Hawk batters.

Lannon Montgomery picked up the win for LS (4-0) with six walks, a hit batsman and three strikeouts. Carson Matson struck out three and Jack Bowlin fanned two.

Davis Utech hit a single and double with an RBI. Lucas Sleck hit a pair of singles with an RBI.

North Mahaska will return to action Tuesday at BGM and return home Wednesday to face Colfax-Mingo. Both games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
