NM Girls Earn Share of SICL Crown

COLFAX – North Mahaska’s girls earned a share of the South Iowa Cedar League basketball crown. It is the fourth consecutive title for the Warhawks. North Mahaska downed Colfax-Mingo 63-30.

North Mahaska (18-2, 14-1) took control early 19-5 and increased to 45-13 by halftime. Three NM seniors scored in double figures led by Breckyn Schilling with 15 points. Sydney Andersen scored 14 and Regan Grewe chipped in 10. Nataliya Linder came off the bench with eight points, five rebounds and two steals. Libby Hargis scored six points and six rebounds. Schilling led the Warhawks in steals with four and blocked a shot. Peyton Sanders, Kayla Readshaw and Schilling each doled out four assists.

Isabelle Fogelsong led Colfax-Mingo (6-15, 4-11) with 11 points and Blain Houseman scored nine.

North Mahaska will close out the regular season hosting Oskaloosa on Tuesday. They will open Class 2A tournament play at home on Tuesday, Feb. 18 against either Pella Christian or Colfax-Mingo.
