Myrta J. Fairchild, age 93, of Ottumwa, IA, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at North Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa, IA. Myrta was born on February 24, 1929, in Belgrade, NE, to Harold and Laura (Pittenger) Harriger.
Marta graduated in 1947 from Mitchell, NE High School.
She married Frank Fairchild in Libertyville, IA, in 1947.
Before her daughters were born, Myrta worked at John Morrell Ottumwa in the accounting dept. and later worked at the Eddyville Tribune. Her favorite things to do were take care of her girls, dance with her husband, and keep in touch with friends and relatives. She excelled at these things.
Myrta is survived by her two daughters, Linda (& Emil) Larson of Denver, CO and Karen (& Jim) Ealy of Springfield, MO; three grandchildren: Curt Larson of Denver, CO, Brandon Lint of Newton, IA, and Katie Lint of Des Moines, IA; three great grandchildren: Kaden, Logan, and Lainey Lint; and missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Myrta was preceded in death her husband, Frank Fairchild; her parents, Harold and Laura Pittenger; five brothers; and six sisters.
In accordance to Myrta’s wishes, her body has been cremated and no services are planned.
