MCRF Holds Successful Fundraiser

15 teams competed this past weekend in MCRF’s Annual Bowling Tournament Fundraiser. This was the 5th year for the event.
Oskaloosa, Iowa – How do you help a vital component of area recreation raise funds and celebrate the spirit of community? Mahaska County Recreation Foundation and its volunteers found a way, with the 5th annual bowling tournament held at Mahaska Bowl.
MCRF held its annual bowling event this past weekend. Those people who already volunteer, along with community members and others joined in to help raise a little money for the foundation and to spend some time together in a social setting.
MCRF Executive Director Sherry Vavra was pleased with the response to the fundraiser, and was happy to see those participating having a good time. “The mood is good. It really is,” said Vavra. “Actually, I think this is the best turn-out and it’s the best auction we’ve had.”
The night featured a silent auction as part of the annual fundraising effort. Items for the auction were donated by area businesses and individuals.
Donated items came from Mahaska Drug, Signature Salon, On the Green, Fareway, WalMart, 804 Décor, Mahaska, Mahaska Health Partnership, True Value, Subway, Sherwin Williams, Hunter’s, Great Expectations, Allied Gas & Chemical Co, INC., Studio 404 Tan Salon & Spa, Breadeaux Pizza, The Creamery & Co., Fridley Theatres, The Iowa Children’s Museum, SkyZone Indoor Trampoline Park, The Peppertree, Brown’s Shoe Fit, Kelderman Hobby Shack , Smokey Row, After Prom Fundraising Committee, Callahan Custom Creations, Casey’s General Store, Clemons Inc., Greater Des Moines Baseball Club and Hy-Vee. Lane Sponsorships were also given from B & B Bedding, Rielly Insurance, Hawkeye Realty, Bate’s Funeral Chapel, Shinn Brokerage, Inc., Clow Valve, Garland Van Arkel Langkamp Funeral Chapel, HyVee, Osky Foods , Oskaloosa Chiropractic, Robert Auld Investments, Oskaloosa Vision Center, Edward Jones – Jennifer Main, and Kelderman.
The profits from the fundraiser will go to the 2015 Lacey Recreation Complex projects. Net profit from the event was over $6,500.
Fifteen teams competed from various clubs and businesses. In the end, Mahaska (formerly known as Mahaska Bottling) once again won the traveling trophy.
