McReynolds Sets New Personal Best at St. Louis Pharmacy Invite
St. Louis, Mo.–Valinn McReynolds (Bellville, Texas, Masters of Business Leadership) ran one of the fastest times in school history as the William Penn cross country teams competed at the St. Louis Pharmacy Classic Saturday.
The William Penn men placed fifth out of seven teams with 123 points, while Columbia (Mo.) won the men’s crown with 36 points. The Lady Statesmen harriers did not field a team as Washington (Mo.) earned the women’s title with 30 points.
John Egan of Brescia (Ky.) was the fastest man in the 8K race with a time of 25:53.7, while Kristen Brosnan of William Woods (Mo.) topped the female field with a time of 18:55.6.
McReynolds was seventh out of 78 competitors with a time of 19:29.6, the third-fastest 5K time in program history. It betters her previous best time by 26 seconds.
Rosemary Bailey (Jr., Fayetteville, Ark., Communication) placed 56th with a time of 22:26.4 and Sade Myers (So., Honolulu, Hawaii, Elementary Education) was 67th at 23:50.3.
Yanni Gallagher (Fr., Kanab, Utah, Psychology) guided the men by placing 22nd out of 92 runners with a time of 26:56.7. Deane Wichelt (So., Durant, Iowa, Industrial Technology) was next, placing 37th at 27:40.8, while Blake Washington (Jr., Knoxville, Iowa, Public Accounting) was 48th at 28:08.4.
Nick Thomas (So., Salmon, Idaho, Physical Education), in 58th at 28:41.5, and Quintin Marshall (Jr., St. Louis, Mo., Computer Science), in 65th at 29:17.4, also accounted for William Penn’s score. Stepfon Williams (Fr., St. Louis, Mo., Industrial Technology) rounded out the team by placing 79th at 31:15.0.
