MCC Softball Tourney at Lacey Recreation Complex
William Penn University hosts girls Midwest Collegiate Conference Softball Weekend at the Lacey Recreation Complex:
This past weekend William Penn University hosted a weekend girls softball conference with nine teams coming in from as far away as La Crosse, Wisconsin to the Lacey Recreation Complex. This is the second year for the conference games to be hosted at the Lacey Recreation Complex. A William Penn Representative stated that the set up was good at the complex and they are glad to host it in Oskaloosa. Near 200 people were in the spectators seats to watch the teams compete. The William Penn girls team was outstanding, winning all four of their games. On Saturday the Lady Statesmen defeated Viterbo, the Wisconsin team, 5 to 4 and Ashford, a team traveling from Clinton Iowa, 7 to 4. They kept their record of wins on Sunday controlling both games in Mercy-Rule wins (five innings of play). The Lacey Statesmen won against Clarke, from Dubuque, with a 10 to 0 score and later against Iowa Wesleyan from Mount Pleasant 12 to 1. The weekend weather was marvelous for softball and the weekend proved to be marvelous for the William Penn Lady Statesmen !
Universities competing: Ashford, Clarke, Mount Mercy, St Ambrose, Grand View, Viterbo, William Penn and Iowa Wesleyan and Waldorf colleges.
