Mahaska Young Professionals Finding A Way To Network
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Some members of the Mahaska Young Professionals spent some time on Monday evening at the Oskaloosa Art Center painting their own garden gnome statues.
Janet Kuskie, the Mahaska Young Professionals President, said it was decided to do a pottery type of project, and they wanted something different to draw in a different crowd.
“We’ve done cups before, so we thought hey, let’s give gnomes a try,” said Kuskie with a smile.
Kuskie said that she’s been on the MYP board for the past three years while being a part of the group for the past four years. The reason she says she joined the group was to help make a difference in the community, “but also have something to do after work for our young professionals. Sometimes it’s hard when there’s not much going on, so we try to make it a fun environment for young professionals to network and wind down.”
That networking can make a big difference in the growth and development of a professional. “This brings us all together throughout the county.”
Mahaska Young Professionals [MYP] has been active in the community for the past eight years, and they are always welcoming other young professionals.
