Mahaska Supervisors meeting Monday
The Supervisors were introduced to the new naturalist Laura De Cook. An AmeriCorp grant was received to hire an assistant naturalist from the DNR. The assistant naturalist will be on the payroll for a year, with $6,000 of the salary coming from the local conservation budget.
Environmental Services reports that since May of this year we have 27 new addresses. 3 of those have already built and needed follow up as well as the other new address.
They passed the leasing of a building in New Sharon that is used to store a road grader for $2500 for the year. Also passing was the reading of clearing checks that had not been cashed or deposited on the County since 2008-09 budget to help clear the books.
Supervisors had to decide on what to pay court appointed fee’s and to make them the same across the board.
The supervisors really could use some amplification at their meetings, as their voices are not loud enough for the public to understand what they are saying clearly.
