MAHASKA COUNTY – With the relentless cold weather upon us, aches, pains and illness become more prevalent. Massage therapy is a great way to relieve pain, reduce stress and stay healthy. Mahaska Health Partnership’s Massage Therapy is now offering extended hours until 7 pm every Monday and Tuesday.

According to the American Massage Association, massage therapy can boost your immune strength. Massage works to increase the activity level of the body’s natural “killer T cells,” which fight off viruses. Studies have also found that the hormone arginine-vasopressin, which plays a role in blood pressure and water retention in the body, was significantly decreased after a Swedish massage.

“Massage Therapy is a great tool for anyone who needs to relax or have freedom from aches and pains,” MHP Licensed Massage Therapist Michelle Hynick said. “Massage can improve your mental outlook, promote a relaxed state of mental alertness, and enhance calm thinking. With the holiday season over, now is a great time to refocus and work towards a calmer, more relaxed you.

“We know how busy everyone is during this time of year, so we are working hard to provide a variety of options to our clientele,” Hynick shared. “We have added a new Licensed Massage Therapist, Becky Vandenberg, which allows us to provide more appointments and extended hours on Mondays and Tuesdays.”

MHP Massage Therapy is now accepting appointments for relaxation, deep tissue and prenatal massages. Appointments are available Mondays, 10:30 am – 7:00 pm, Tuesdays, 8:00 am – 7:00 pm, Wednesday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm and the first and second Saturday of the month by appointment.
