Maceli Named League Golfer of the Week for Second Time

Oskaloosa–Sam Maceli (Fr., Pittsburg, Kan., Exercise Science) collected more than just tournament hardware for her efforts last week as she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week Monday.

Maceli earned her second weekly honor (second of the year for WPU) as she topped the 31-player field at the Navy and Gold Classic last Monday and Tuesday.

The freshman carded a 75 on the first day and then added a 78 for the second round to take the crown at 153. Maceli appears to enjoy playing at William Penn’s home track of Edmundson Golf Course as it marks the second time she has won there this year. She also walked off victorious at the William Penn Classic last September 13-14.

For the year, Maceli owns a 76.9 stroke average over 12 rounds. She has posted nine rounds in the 70s with a season-low of 72. The freshman has not finished outside of the top 10 this year.
