Lloyd M. Crumly, 96, of Oskaloosa died April 25, 2016, at Northern Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa. Lloyd was born Sunday, July 6, 1919, in Letts, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Dora Ann Dallmeyer Crumly.

Lloyd graduated from Letts High School. On April 30, 1938, Lloyd was united in marriage to Mary Werner in Kahoka, Missouri.

In 1945, Lloyd joined the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge, Lloyd returned to Letts. He worked for J.I. Case Company in Rock Island, Illinois until 1949. In 1951, Lloyd went to work for the U.S. Postal Service and was the Postmaster in Letts until 1957. He then transferred to Rural Route in 1957 and retired in 1979.

Lloyd enjoyed fishing and put on many fish fries. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa, the American Legion and V.F.W. and the Postal Union. He was also a member of the Mahaska Lodge# 644 and KAABA Shrine for more than 70 years.

His family includes: his wife of over 77 years: Mary Crumly of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Carol Ann Tyrell of Sacramento, California; two sons: William Arthur (& Rita) Crumly of San Diego, California and John Crumly of Oskaloosa; 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Crumly of Durant, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Crumly; a daughter-in-law, Marie Crumly; 6 brothers: Leo, Edwin, Robert, Max, Merle and Lester Crumly; and a sister, Viola Mae Hetzler.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 at 10 A.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Bruce Wittern officiating.
Burial will be in Lettsville Cemetery in Letts, Iowa on Friday, April 29, 2016, at 1 P.M.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016 after 1 P.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa and the family will be at the funeral home Thursday from 5 – 7 P.M. to greet friends and relatives.
A Masonic service will be held 7 P.M. following the visitation.
Memorials may be given to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children or Boy Scouts of America.
