Nathan and Sarah Benson win Christmas Light Decoration Contest

Nathan and Sarah Benson

Throughout December, we asked you to vote for your favorite light display for our Christmas Light Display Contest. After nearly two weeks of voting Nathan and Sarah Benson were declared the winners with over 220 votes. The Benson’s were the recipients of 6 dozen home baked cookies as well as two hours of free computer work from Oskaloosa Computer’s and Technology.  This is not the first year the Nathan and Sara have put up Lights.

When asked about next year specifically if they plan to add more to it, Sarah said “We usually do. We always get our Christmas lights after Christmas when there’s the best deals.” Sarah also mentioned that they don’t turn on their lights until after Thanksgiving “We have the rule that we don’t turn ours (christmas lights) on until after Thanksgiving.”The Benson’s moved to Oskaloosa from Alexandria Minnesota. Nathan works at John Deere in Ottumwa. Sarah is a stay at home mom but was a Junior High Teacher when they lived in Minnesota.
