To the Eligible Voters of Mahaska County :

On January 29, 2013 there is an opportunity for you to exercise in a privilege that many of our ancestors fought for us to have. If gives you the to window of opportunity to express your belief on who you believe should represent YOU in a vacant position on the Mahaska County Board of Supervisors. Not being of age to cast my ballot, I ask for two favors of the Mahaska County voter population. One, being to go vote and the second, to cast your vote for my dear friend Tom Rielly.

Most importantly, you need to exercise the rights you have as an American Citizen. Sadly, there is a trend of very poor voter turnout for “special” elections. This is not just a local problem, but a nationwide epidemic. To be honest, the only thing “special” about this election is that there are less positions being voted on and the date of the election is not the typical date as set forward in the Constitution. Realistically, it should take you a fraction of the time to vote on January 29 compared to a normal election with there being just one contested race on the ballot. To eliminate the chance that something might come up to prevent you from going to the polls, or you just forget to, the opportunity is available to cast your ballot early. You can go up to the courthouse and cast your ballot any day between now and election day! I encourage everyone of eligibility to go cast your vote. If you are not registered to vote, the courthouse can take care of that for you as well.

Secondly, I ask you to vote for Tom Rielly. I grew up right around the Rielly family and have always had fond memories of Tom. I have been actively interested and engaged in politics from a young age. I often remember mornings of walking to the bus stop and seeing Tom as he was getting ready to leave to either go to his Insurance Office or head up to the Capital. I would often take this golden opportunity and ask him any political question I may have. He would always be so generous to answer as I recall sometimes having to run to end up making the bus. Tom Rielly has time for everyone. A quality that is greatly desired in a candidate, especially at the local level. During his tenure as a state senator, he never forgot about Mahaska County and local government. We can see this by looking at the standing committees he was a part of during his time in Des Moines. Tom was a member of the Agriculture, Commerce, Economic Growth, Local Government, and Transportation standing committees. These committees have Mahaska County written all over them. I have no doubt in my mind that Tom has acquired a great wealth of knowledge as a state senator to boost Mahaska County to new standards. His knowledge, coupled with his dedication and compassion for everyone, makes Tom Rielly the ideal candidate for Mahaska Conty Board of Supervisor.

I kindly ask once again, for the Voters of Mahaska County, to cast your votes in the upcoming election for Mahaska County Supervisor and before you place a check in hat box, to give a heavy consideration for my dear friend, Tom Rielly.

Best Wishes,

Bob Leonard
