Dissappointment is a understatement when you ask many people in the Marion and Mahaska counties. We the people feel like we have no representation and no say in this airport. Why is it that the people in charge of making all the descions are not elected officials and why is it we are not allowed to have a say? Isn’t government for the people by the people or have I been misled my whole life? Why is it that these people on this board won’t even take the time to get to know us? We are all hardworking people; many of us farmers and many of us business men/women just like them.
It is sad to see that people we have done business with and still do could turn their backs on the people and act as if they do not care that farm ground and homes will be taken to make a airport that clearly the people do not think is nessecary. Why are they not listening to our concerns and our fears? Why are not the people’s intrests not taken into consideration? Sure a few big corporations think this will be very benicfial but for who them or the people? We have two very fine airports that still work. They could even join up with Ottumwa or Newton. Why waste money that frankly the government doesn’t have. We as a nation are in debt. In fact along the way even tho they say it won’t happen we are going to see a tax hike because there is no way they can fund it with out taxpayer money contrary to what they keep saying.
I urge all you to keep up your dilligent work of putting up signs and to the person or people that thought it was funny to spray paint over signs it wasn’t very funny; and keep spreading the word and contacting the people on the board and our representitives in Iowa and in Washington.
