Obituary:
Larry Gene Goldschmidt was born June 3, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas the son of David and Annette (Solomon) Goldschmidt.
He was raised in Wichita and graduated from Wichita Southeast High School with the Class of 1974. Larry then attended KU for 2 years before enlisting in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he lived in New Jersey for a while before moving back to Wichita. Larry worked for a cable company, before attending school to become an over the road truck driver. In 1991 Larry moved to Knoxville and worked for Vermeer for 7 years, and then returned to trucking. Through the years he drove for Foodliner, Brooks, and Schneider. Larry most recently worked for TPI of Newton.
On September 19, 1992 Larry was united in marriage to Phyllis Burden. The couple has always made Knoxville their home. In his spare time, He enjoyed racing Odysseys, watching NASCAR and other sports, and riding his Harley. He also liked to attend farmer’s markets, fishing and shooting darts. All in all Larry was a very social person and he loved his family and many friends. He never met a stranger and would make friends wherever he went.
Larry passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2010 at the Iowa Methodist Medical center at the age of 55 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to mourn his passing include his wife , Phyllis; sons, Jordan of Topeka, KS and Marshall of Germany; step-children: Tim (Donna) Moore of Knoxville, Travis (Mary) Moore of Madisonville, KY, Troy Moore and Cleta (Chris) Crook both of Knoxville; 9 grandchildren: Dylan, Joshua, Cole, Tanner, Kaya, Destini, Alexys, Gina and Luke; his sister, Kay (Craig) Martin of Prairie Village, KS and 2 nephews, Derek and Robert and numerous other family members and friends.
