William Penn Women's Athletics

Des Moines–It has been a tough inaugural season of competition for the AIB volleyball team and William Penn did not make it any better Tuesday with an easy 3-0 win in Midwest Collegiate Conference action.

William Penn (11-10, 2-2 MCC) won by scores of 25-6, 25-17, 25-11. The visitors, who had 19 different players see the court, hit .301 while holding the Eagles (1-11, 0-4 MCC) in the red at -.071.

Christa Subbert (Sr., Stanton, Stanton HS) paced her squad with eight kills, while Brittany Rohling (Sr., Thayer, Kan., Neosho CC) added six. A total of ten Lady Statesmen recorded a winner Tuesday.

Dayna Sammons (Fr., Menomonee Falls, Wis., Menomonee Falls HS) led the setting duo with nine assists, while Katherine Stumberg (Sr., Williamsburg, Kirkwood CC) tallied seven. Stumberg was also credited with three aces, while Jenna Medlin (Fr., Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa HS) collected two off the bench.

Lacey Taylor (Jr., Cedar, Iowa Western CC) produced just three kills, but had a solid night in other areas, posting team bests in digs (14) and blocks (3 assists).

William Penn never trailed on the night and was tied with AIB just once (1-1 in the second game).

Next: No rest for the navy and gold as the team travels to Storm Lake Wednesday to face Buena Vista in non-conference play at 7:30 p.m.
