Oskaloosa, Iowa – Things were taking shape in front of St. Mary’s Parish in Oskaloosa on Saturday morning, as Nicholas Koening and assistants helped to put the finishing touches on Koening’s Eagle Scout project.

Koening wanted to do something to benefit his church family in Oskaloosa.

To get to this point, Koening said it had been a long process, nearly a year from its inception to completion.

Koening worked with his parish Father and then came the fundraising for the project to help make it happen.

Koening said that two things have been very influential to him during his scouting days and life. “My duty to God and country. I like to give back to my church, and also give glory to our country as well by putting in an American Flag.”

Koening thanked the Bambrook family, “they have helped me out tremendously.”
