Visitation: Will begin at 3 p.m., Thursday afternoon, December 15, 2011 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 5 – 7 p.m. to greet visitors.
Funeral Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon December 16, 2011 at Bethel Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 1:15 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.
Interment: Forest Cemetery with Military Honors by the Oskaloosa Honor Guard.

Ken passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Hudson on Monday. Ken was born August 10, 1934 in Williamsburg, IA to parents Otto George and Elsie Elise (Newkirk) Iburg. Ken grew up on a farm near Williamsburg, was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and attended the Immanuel Lutheran School in Williamsburg. Ken’s first marriage in 1960 to Cynthia Wilcox would be blessed with a daughter, Robin. Ken would be united in marriage on June 18, 1971 to Joleen K. Roozeboom at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa, and their union in marriage would be blessed with three children. Ken’s life would be touched by his four children, and six grandchildren. Their lives will forever be touched by his lasting legacy of love and family.

Ken served his country in the United States Army, while stationed in Germany. Ken moved to Oskaloosa in 1960, where he owned and operated the Mahaska Motel, Iburg Carpet Cleaning, and the Penn-Well Apartments. As a businessman, Ken was active in the Oskaloosa community serving in the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club, as well as being a school board member for the Oskaloosa Christian Schools. Ken was also a member, and past-president of the Iowa Lodging Association. He was also a member of Pheasants Forever, and People to People International. Ken and his family were active members with the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa from 1971 until 2005, when he and Joleen moved to Hudson WI and became members of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Afton MN. Outside of work, Ken enjoyed gardening, boating, vacationing with family, and bowling league. Ken also enjoyed downhill skiing with family in Breckenridge CO, as well as cross-country skiing, and water skiing. Ken was fond of time spent with his children and grandchildren, and he will be dearly missed by each of them.

Ken is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joleen; his son, Kevin (Juliana) Iburg of Roberts WI; his daughters Robin (Tom) Marcinik of Grinnell IA, Kristen (Vince) Meyer of Lakeland MN, and Kendra (Mark) Snook of Alta Loma CA; his grandchildren, Justin Marcinik, Gabriel Meyer, Pierce Meyer, Emma Snook, Wyatt Snook, and Eliana Iburg; his brother, Robert (Elaine) Iburg of Williamsburg IA; his parents-in-law, Marion (Bertha) Roozeboom; his brother-in-law, Ken (Darlene) Roozeboom; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Elsie; his brother, Delmer Iburg, and his sister-in-law Phyllis Iburg.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Oskaloosa Christian School.
