John Clark Walton, age 67 of Newton IA, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia.

John was born on July 8, 1953, to Clyde and Mildred Walton in Eldora, IA.

John grew up and attended school, graduating from New Providence High School and later taking classes at Iowa State University.

John loved nature, fishing and gardening and was a member of the Isaac Walton League. He very much enjoyed cribbage and being with his family and friends. He also enjoyed carpentry. In his early life, he farmed. He worked at Vermeer in Pella for several years. He was a member of the Christian Life Church in Newton.

John is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (& Dennis) Stickler and grandson, Harley Stickler of Oskaloosa, IA; his son, Stephen Walton of Newton, IA; a sister, Sharon (Walton) Parrish of Baltimore, MD; a brother, Craig Walton of Souix City, IA; a niece, Chelsea Walton of El Cerrito, CA; and a nephew, Jessie Walton of San Francisco, CA. He is also survived by his former wife, Diane (Fowler) Walton of Newton, IA; long standing friend, Linda Johnson of Albia, IA; and several cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mid Walton; and a brother-in-law, Roger Parrish.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 22 2021 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with John’s family present to greet family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 22, 2021, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor James Miller officiating. Burial will follow services at Munterville Cemetery in Wapello County.

Memorials have been established to the Oskaloosa Animal Shelter and the Christian Life Church in Newton.
