Janet Lynn Walraven
Janet Lynn Walraven, 72, of Oskaloosa died unexpectedly at her home in Oskaloosa. She was born July 23, 1951, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas Henry and Ila Halene Thrapp Rees. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1969. Following graduation, she furthered her education studying Healthcare Administration, Nursing, and Art History. On February 28, 1970, she was united in marriage to Larry Walraven in Oskaloosa. To this union two daughters were born Stacy and Michelle. Larry and Janet later divorced. Janet worked as a Registered Nurse in the Med. Surgery department at MHP. After seven years there, she worked in health care counseling. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked Art, History, and crafts, especially crocheting and painting.Her family includes her two daughters, Stacy Goodvin of Cedar Rapids and Michelle Morrow of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Adam Goodvin, Alex Goodvin, Kaila Montgomery, and Kristofer Morrow; 6 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Terry (Deb) Rees of Rose Hill, Cindy (Gary Mason) Stirratt of Oskaloosa, Kathy (David) Dalbey of Osceola, and Marilyn (Jeff) Crumbley of Pelham, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; Bill and Halene Fleener, a brother, Michael Fleener; a sister, Sherry Fleener; a niece, Starr Rees; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Stirratt; and a sister-in-law, Diane McReynolds.
A graveside memorial service and burials will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Tioga Cemetery East of Oskaloosa with Reverend Molly Goodrich officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Those attending the graveside service should arrive at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa by 10:15 Tuesday morning. A procession will form at 10:30 to go to Tioga Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa.
