James Wims
James Alan Wims, 52, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, September 15, 2011, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. He was born June 3, 1959 at Elgin, Illinois, the son of James E. and Pauline Vance Wims. He graduated from the Kaneland Sr. High School in Maple Park, Illinois with the class of 1977. He lived in Kane County, Illinois and had been employed as a carpenter until a fall twenty five years ago left him disabled. He moved to Iowa in 1992. He lastly worked at William Penn University in the kitchen through the spring, 2011. As a young man, he worked on a horse farm and he maintained his interest and love for horses throughout his life.
His family includes his mother, Pauline Arballo of Oskaloosa; a brother: Michael Wims of West Chicago, Illinois; four sisters: Mary Wims of Oskaloosa, Sherry Wims of Chicago, Marcia Pinkston of Elburn, Illinois, and Janet Todd of Elgin, Illinois; seven nieces; three nephews; and five great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 18, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel, Oskaloosa, with Pastor Dave Childers officiating. Burial will follow in the Coal Creek Cemetery, south west of Oskaloosa. Open visitation will begin at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Saturday after 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Coal Creek Church Preservation Association.
