Indians rout Washington 90-55
By Doug DeKock
The Oskaloosa boys basketball team bounced back from a disappointing loss on Friday to Grinnell by walloping Washington 90-55 Tuesday night in Washington. The Indians are starting to look as though they are the real deal as they recorded their third blowout of the season, and ran their record to 5-1. It was a typical night for Oskaloosa offensively, as 6 players scored in double figures against the out-manned Demons.
Oskaloosa jumped on the Demons right off the tip and cruised to a 23-8 1st quarter lead. The Indians new found fast break offense beat the Demons down the floor time and again. Jack Moore was one of the first half leaders as he threw down a couple of dunks on his way to a 15 point night. Oskaloosa once again made the extra pass, which resulted in easy buckets throughout the game. Cole Henry once again led the Indians with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Jared Kruse was right behind him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. More had 15 points, Tanner DeKock, 14 points, Xavier Foster, 12 points, and Spencer Tucker had 10 points.
This basketball team looks to be getting more and more comfortable with each other. It looks like offensively they are going to be just fine; there does seem to be a little concern on the defensive end. Washington was able to have a couple of spurts, which exposed Oskaloosa’s defense. The Indians will need to continue to improve defensively if they are going to compete in the Little Hawkeye. This is an exciting team to watch, and they have the potential to be really good! Friday night, they host undefeated DCG at home, starting around 7:45pm. It will be another measuring stick for the Indians; let’s pack the gym and cheer them on Friday night!
