The Oskaloosa cross country teams ran at the Grinnell Invitational on Tuesday.
Brooke VanHouweling led the way with a 4th place finish in a time of 16:44, helping the varsity girls team to a 10th place finish in the 14-team field. “Brooke really looked good tonight, she got up with the lead pack and ran with those girls most of the race. It was good to see that kind of race from her.” said Coach Comfort. Freshman Kelsey and Lesley Roquet continued to run strong races along with Stephanie Smith, Meghan Toubekis and Riley Berg “These 6 girls are forming a strong team and if they continue to push each other to get better will be a very good team by the end of the year.” Coach Comfort said.
The boys finished 14th in the 14-team field with Max Holle leading the way with a 19:56 to finish in 64th place. Coach Comfort also commented on this race ” Max is our leader this year and has done a good job of steering the team. He ran a good race tonight and he will continue to challenge the team to improve as the season progresses. I look for Max to have a solid season and continue to bring his times down over the course of the rest of the season.”
