High Speed Chase Ends With Car Resting Against Tree
At 8:34 p.m. Saturday evening local authorities attempted to stop a 1995 Ford Probe driven by Shawn O’Brien. O’Brien lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree.
The chase was traveling South on 130th Place (nearly 4 miles south of the Knoxville Airport) as O’Brien was, allegedly, attempting to elude police. After losing control of his car, it entered a residential yard and struck a tree. O’Brien then took off on foot.
O’Brien was found later, nearly 1/2 a mile Southeast of the accident site.
He has been charged with OWI, failure to maintain control of a vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident (damage only). He was then transported to Marion County Hospital by ambulance and his condition is unknown.
