Green’s AOY Earns Him Eighth-Career AOW

Oskaloosa–Gabriel Green (Jr., Anniston, Ala., Anniston HS) blew away the competition Saturday and for his efforts he was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Green, a three-time honoree this winter, swept the sprints at last weekend’s MCC Championships. In accomplishing that rare feat, he claimed his third career Athlete of the Year honor (second indoor honor).

The junior won the 55-meter dash in 6.42 seconds, the 200 in 22.30 seconds, and the 400 in 50.50 seconds. His 55 and 200 times were both meet records, and he also tied the school record in the 55.

Green, who leads the MCC in all three events, will be competing in both the 60 and 200 at the NAIA National Championships next month.

The award is the eighth of Green’s career and is the third for the track and field program this year.
