Green Garners POW Honor for Opening-Week Performances
Oskaloosa–Gabriel Green (Jr., Anniston, Ala., Anniston HS) started his 2011-2012 season exactly where he left off last year and for his efforts, he was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Green qualified for NAIA Nationals in the 60-meter dash with a ‘B’ standard of 6.93 seconds, while his 400 time was just off the mark. His 49.61 mark was converted to 50.11 seconds due to track size.
The junior leads the MCC in both events and will be seeking his third-consecutive league crown in the 400 and 200 (second in the 55) next February.
The award is the sixth of Green’s career and is the first for the track and field program this year.
