July 28, 1928 – March 19, 2022
Branson, Missouri | Age 93
Geraldine “Jerrie” Glenn, 93 of Branson, Missouri, former resident of Monroe County, and Albia, Iowa was called home peacefully on March 19, 2022, with daughters at her side. Geraldine, the eldest child of seven, was born at her grandparents Estlack farm.
Shortly after graduating, Jerrie worked at Kittermans Cafe’ where she later met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Glenn.
They married in 1951, when recently celebrating 70 years together. Albia is where they made their home for several years and to this union were blessed with two daughters.
Jerrie was a homemaker that took pride in raising her family and making their house, truly a ‘home’. For those that visited, Jerrie made them feel welcomed as she loved preparing dishes from her abundant collection of recipes. She was quite the seamstress that enjoyed sewing clothes for herself and daughters. Making birthday celebrations for her family a “treat,” preparing requested meal and cake was one of her specialties. Jerrie enjoyed playing the piano, singing, cooking, reading, word-search puzzles and playing cards.
Jerrie worked for the Ames Public School District in Food Service for 16 years; was a member of The First United Methodist Church; served as an Officer with Camp Fires, and volunteered where needed.
Moving to Branson, Missouri in 1985 Jerrie volunteered at Skaggs Hospital (currently Cox-Branson) for 26 years, Salvation Army, and American Red Cross. She was a member of The United Methodist Church, where she volunteered at the church thrift store, helped with the “Ham and Bean” dinners, and sang in the church choir.
Jerrie and Bob enjoyed the variety of music shows Branson has to offer, and they attended often. They loved to travel, traveling the United States, as well as outside its borders, even embarking on a Cruise, while loving every minute!
Survived by two daughters, Sheila (& Rick) Glenn-Whitford and Kimberly (& Steve) Lowry; three granddaughters: Onikah, McKeah, and Kyndall; three great-grandchildren; Siblings: Betty (& Milton) Ubbink, Leland (& Evelyn) Gray, LaVonne Shirley, and Phillip (& Janice) Gray.
Geraldine was a devoted Christian, caring, loving, kindhearted wife, mother, grandmother and friend that will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. She enjoyed life and all that it had to offer. For 70+ years, Geraldine was never without a tube (sometimes two) of lipstick in her pocket!
A memorial celebration service for Geraldine and husband Robert will be held Saturday, March 26th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Trinity United Methodist Church, 1117 Benton Avenue E, Albia, Iowa.
