Gary Lee Wilson., age 62, of Albia, IA, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia, under the care of EveryStep Hospice. Gary was born on April 26, 1960, in Ottumwa, IA, to Bob and Phyllis (Buchanan) Wilson.
Gary grew up attending school in Eddyville and then served his country in the United States Army.
On February 22, 2010, Gary was united in marriage to Linda Dickerson at the River of Life Church in Albia.
Gary worked at Hawkeye Molding Company in Albia for over 20 years, working in various positions from a machine operator to becoming warehouse supervisor.
Gary enjoyed being outdoors and hiking on nature trails. He had a passion for racing and loved not only watching races but also helping his sons in the garage. Gary enjoyed playing cards, especially Rummy. He was a country music fan, Alan Jackson being a favorite artist, and enjoyed watching Westerns and the ID Channel. His true joy in life was spending time with his family and friends.
Gary is survived by his wife, Linda; his mother, Phyllis Wilson; 6 children: Heather Wilson, Tara (& Oscar) Aldaba, Tyler (& Sam) Wilson, Robbie (& Leah) Wilson, Tanner (& Isabel) Wilson, and Matthew Reed; 8 grandchildren: Donovan, Coleton, Kingston, Javier, Isabella, Brynlee, Jackson, and Kinsley; and 5 siblings: Teresa (& Jeff) Warrior, Mike (& Michelle) Wilson, Ronnie (& Lisa) Wilson, Peggy Glanville, and David (& Judy) Wilson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob; and a sister-in-law, Audrey.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Gary’s family present throughout to greet family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor Brad Gray officiating.
Military honors will be provided by the American Legion of Albia, Lovilia, and Melrose.
An open memorial has been established to the family.
