Friends, Family and Strangers come together to make a difference

Judy Charlton was the guest of honor at a benefit to help her and her husband Rick with the cost of rising medical bills as Judy fights cancer. In October of 2010, Judy was diagnosed with 3rd stage breast cancer.
“A group of women in the community called ‘The Pearls’ took it upon themselves to have this benefit for me. They heard that I was having problems with my medical bills and decided they wanted to help this family out, so they had this wonderful benefit auction and dinner.” Charlton said of the days events.
The couple is fairly new to the Oskaloosa community. “The churches and the whole community coming together like that for somebody that’s only been here less than a couple of years, it’s really awesome.” said Charlton.
Judy’s husband Rick is the pastor at Two Timbers Church located in Oskaloosa, right across from Hardees, along A Avenue. Rick and Judy said that they are extremely thankful for everybody’s generosity for somebody they don’t know very well.
Charlton says that they will be participating in the Ottumwa and Oskaloosa Relay for Life.
Lori Rogers said, “It’s been a blessing to see the community come together, even if they didn’t know Pastor Rick and Judy, they came together for a cause.”
