Rodriguez Nabs First Career Heart POW Accolade

Oskaloosa–Donovan Rodriguez (Sr., Philadelphia, Pa., Sports Management) opened his senior season with a trio of high-scoring performances, and for his efforts he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week Monday.

Rodrguez garnered his first-ever weekly award after guiding William Penn to a 2-1 record last week.

In last Wednesday’s season opener versus Central, the senior scored 25 points with four three-pointers.

Last Friday against Northwestern, he poured in a season-best 26 points on 7-for-12 shooting (4-for-9 3-PT), while a day later in a matchup with Governors State, the senior was 12-for-12 at the free-throw line en route to 23 points.

Entering Monday’s game against Rockford, Rodriguez was averaging 24.7 points along with 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He had connected on 50.0% of his shots (36.0% 3-PT) and was nearly perfect at the line at 92.6% (25-for-27).

The weekly award is the first for WPU this year.
