Trailing 44-43 at the halftime intermission, the Warriors outscored the Knights by seven, including a 12-3 advantage in the final 4:19 of play. Indian Hills used a sizable 54-31 rebounding advantage to secure the win.
The Warriors have now won 39 consecutive home openers dating back to the opening of the Hellyer Center in 1986.
10 different players found their way in the scoring column Tuesday night as the Warriors shot 42.6 percent from the floor. Indian Hills outscored the Knights 40-30 in the paint while receiving 43 points from the bench.
The Warriors built an early nine point advantage in the opening minutes of play Tuesday night, but North Platte stayed within striking distance throughout the first 20 minutes. The two sides traded blows with North Platte eventually taking a lead before Indian Hills regrouped for a 34-28 edge on a lay-in from Kumu at the 5:18 mark. North Platte rallied back to take a 44-43 edge at the break.
After the Knights posted a blistering 41.2 percent clip from three-point range in the first frame, the Warriors limited their opponent from beyond the arc to open the second stanza as North Platte missed its final 11 three-point shots of the night.
Neither side was able to pull away, but the Knights surged down the stretch to take a 70-67 lead with 5:20 remaining. A dunk from Reevey and a three-point shot from Webb put Indian Hills back on top and the Warriors never looked back to secure its first all-time win over the Knights.
Along with the 13 points, Kumu filled the stat sheet with five assists, five rebounds, and two steals.
Indian Hills returns to action all weekend long at the Hellyer Center with the Norris Asphalt Classic.
