Residential Energy Codes: 8:30am to 9:45am
Buildings in the United States consume almost 40% of all energy produced in our country. It is becoming more important to set minimum requirements that new construction can follow to reduce reliance on foreign energy sources. Buildings built to The Energy Code are more comfortable, cost-effective to operate, assuring energy, along with economic and environmental benefits.
Learning Objectives:
1. The training will cover the different compliance paths and methods that apply to the building thermal envelope of residential buildings.
2. Participants will learn the difference between new construction, additions, alterations, and repairs.
3. Participants will become familiar with the mandatory requirements for the building thermal envelope and the Iowa specific amendments.
4. Participants will preview what is new in the 2015 IECC
Commercial Provisions of the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code: 9:55am to Noon
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to identify the climate zone for the project location and choose the path of compliance that is appropriate with their design.
2. Participants will take a look at the prescriptive tables and learn about how specific building envelope assemblies have become more efficient.
3. Participants will learn about the mandatory mechanical and electrical provisions of the code and when the new additional efficiency package options are required.
