Floyd Richard Dalbey, age 88, of Fremont, IA passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Hospice House in Ottumwa, IA surrounded by his family. He was born on November 20, 1924 at Highland Center, IA to Seaborn Vance and Elizabeth Cobler Dalbey, one of 16 children. He was joined in marriage to Virginia Ann Aldridge on March 26, 1949 in Altoona, IA., to which five children were born to this union. Floyd retired from John Deere Ottumwa Works on October 31, 1983 after 37 years of service. After retirement he helped several neighboring farmers with spring planting, fall harvest, and also had a small herd of cattle. He served in the Army during WWII and was a 50 year member of the American Legion OB Nelson Post #3 as well as a lifetime member of the UAW Local 74, and the Fremont United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the neighborhood card club, the 40’s club in Ottumwa, hanging with the guys at Waynes’s Tire and when they moved off their farm to Fremont the morning men’s coffee group in Fremont as long as his health allowed him. Floyd is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia; sons, Craig of Ottumwa, IA., Bryan (Sally) of El Cajon, CA; daughters, Paula (Tom) Greteman of Norwalk, IA, Lisa (Neil) Albertson of Fremont and Tracy (LeRoy) Dalbey Short of Independence, MO; 12 grandchildren, one step grandchild, 9 great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Open after 12:00 noon with family present fom 5:00 until 7:00 PM January 22, 2013 at Fremont Funeral Chapel
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM January 23, 2013 at Fremont Funeral Chapel
Interment: Cedar Township Cemetery
