Fire Hydrants Help Fight More Than Fires

The Hawkeye themed fire hydrant above, along with a Cyclone hydrant are both currently on display at the Oskaloosa Eagles Club
Oskaloosa, Iowa – A community supporting it’s own is something Mahaska County is known for.
Lori Milligan, otherwise known as ‘the Pink Warrior’, serves as a dispatcher for the Mahaska County 911 Center and has been battling breast cancer. Her co-workers have been spearheading a fundraiser to help her out during this time.
Lori recently had surgery in January and is now in her chemotherapy program that will last 20 weeks.
Lori has been a Mahaska County 911 dispatcher for 13 years and had previously worked at Monroe County for 10 years.
The Iowa State Cyclones and Iowa Hawkeyes themed Clow fire hydrants will be raffled off during the benefit auction that will be held at the Oskaloosa VFW on April 21st. To find and buy raffle tickets you can stop by Julie’s Home-style Café or the Oskaloosa Eagles Club, where the hydrants are also on display.
The benefit auction at the VFW will start by serving food at 11:30 am for a free will offering. The menu will consist of smoked pork sandwiches and various sides dishes.
The auction itself will start at 1:00 pm with a DJ afterwards.
