Evelyn Robbins, 97, of Rose Hill, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born March 10, 1915, at Lacey, Iowa the daughter of Roy and Alice Lisk Andrews. On December 16, 1931, she was united in marriage to Walter L. Robbins at Nashua, Iowa. Walter passed away on January 17, 1985. Together they farmed east of Rose Hill. Evelyn lived on the farm until March of 2012. She always helped Walter with all of the regular farm work, including milking cows. She was a lifelong member of the Rose Hill Community Church where she taught Sunday School and enjoyed Bible Study Groups. She was a member of the Pi-Chi Club. Evelyn served as a 4-H leader for many years.
Her family includes her two children and their spouses, Betty and John Morris of Twin Falls, Idaho and Richard and Marie Robbins of Rose Hill; five grandchildren, Julie Jones, Lauri Barnett, Christy Luers, Wade Robbins and Jay Robbins; seven great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Walter, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles David Robbins; an infant brother and sister; and two brothers and their wives, Ernest and Leola Andrews and Kenneth and Alma Andrews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 11, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverends Ralph Sprunk and Del Bittner officiating.
Burial will be in the Tioga Cemetery east of Rose Hill. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and will continue until 7 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Rose Hill Community Church.
