EBF Girls Track and Field Finishes Second at SCC Conference Meet

The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (EBF) girls track and field team put up a strong showing at the South Central Conference meet held May 6 in Chariton, ultimately finishing in second place. The squad tallied 143.5 points, falling just short of Davis County, which claimed the title with 149 points.

Throughout the meet, the Rockets saw a mix of season-best performances and hard-fought races that didn’t quite reach the podium. Several EBF athletes posted personal records as they battled for crucial points in the team standings. Despite narrowly missing the opportunity to retain the conference championship, the team remained competitive against a deep and talented field that included Albia, Chariton, Clarke, and Centerville.

Events across the sprint and distance disciplines saw EBF runners and relay squads consistently placing near the top, with strong contributions across the roster. The team’s depth and competitive spirit kept them in the hunt until the final events.

With the conference meet now in the books, EBF turns its attention to the district meet next Thursday at PCM. The focus will shift toward individual and relay qualifications for the upcoming state championships.
