Dutch women receive team cross country academic award
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — The Central College women’s cross country team earned USTFCCCA all-academic team honors while two men and two women earned individual all-academic awards.
On the women’s team, Holly McKinney (senior, Truro, Interstate 35 HS) and Evie Kammeyer (senior, Urbandale) were honored individually for the Dutch. Joining them from the men’s team were Mark Fairley (senior, Dubuque) and Tanner Rathje (senior, Marion, Linn-Mar HS).
To qualify for the distinction, an individual student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater on a 4.0 scale and finished among the top 25 percent of finishers at their respective regional championships. Teams are honored by compiling a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or greater and competing in at least five different varsity competitions with at least five runners representing their school at each meet.
The women’s team compiled a 3.49 GPA to earn all-academic honors for the eighth year in a row and 11th time overall.
McKinney is an exercise science major with a 3.48 GPA and took 21st. Kammeyer finished 50th at the regional meet and she is a biology major with a 3.51 GPA.
Fairley is an exercise science major with a 3.82 GPA and won the NCAA Division III Central Regional. Rathje is a biology, biochemistry double major with a 3.88 GPA who placed 11th.
