Dutch men’s wrestling team wins twice at national duals

CEDAR FALLS – Making a return trip to the NWCA Multi-Level National Duals, the Central College men’s wrestling team split its four matches Friday.

The Dutch (8-3) opened the day with a 39-8 win over the University of Olivet (Mich.). Johnson & Wales University (R.I.) handed Central a 23-20 loss. Central rebounded with a 22-19 win over Luther College before ending the day with a 23-17 loss to North Central College (Ill.)

The middle of Central’s lineup had a strong day as all of Central’s ranked wrestlers went 4-0. Pierre Baldwin (senior, 141 pounds, Chicago, Ill., West Chicago HS) won twice by fall with two major decisions. Christian Stanek (junior, 157 pounds, Cedar Rapids, Xavier HS) had three major decisions. Cade Siebrecht (senior, 149 pounds, Lisbon) had a technical fall and a major decision.

Central will wrestle twice tomorrow, starting at 9 a.m. against Castleton State University (Vt.).
