Donna Davis, 78 of Montezuma passed away Thursday afternoon, December 7, 2023 at the Pella Regional Medical Center in Pella. Donna Mae Davis was born on May 24, 1945 at Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Lyle and Esther Peterson Thomason.
Donna was raised on the farm and graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1964.
On July 5, 1964, Donna and Wayne Davis were united in marriage at the First Presbyterian Church in Montezuma. They became the parents of two children, Mike and Michele.
Along with raising her children, Donna worked for the Harold Bryan Law Office, the Montezuma State Bank, Brownells, and the sale barn cafe. Donna finished her career working at Sig Manufacturing for over thirty years, retiring in 2010.
Donna loved flowers, gardening, puzzles, dancing, ice cream, and baking homemade rolls. She enjoyed riding horses, was a member of the Saddle Club, maintained an immaculate home and was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church serving as a trustee, treasurer and was a member of the Presbyterian Women. Donna loved her family and attended many of her grandchildren’s events.
Donna is survived by her husband, Wayne Davis of Montezuma; son, Mike Davis of Brooklyn, and daughter Michele (Tim) Leonard of Newton; her grandchildren, Kylie (Grant) Clark, Harley Davis, James (Briana Ver Steegh) Leonard, and Macy (Adam) Wiese; three great grandchildren, Will, Rory, and Maxym Clark; one great-great granddaughter, Renesmae; sister-in-law, Donna Thomason, and several other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bob Thomason.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Monday, December 11, 2023 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Burial will be held in the Union Mills Cemetery at Union Mills.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, December 10, 2023 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Evangelical Church.
