David passed away very unexpectedly on Friday at his home near New Sharon at 61 years of age.

David Norman Crile, son of Bernard Edmund and Norma Harriett Campbell Crile, was born January 16, 1950 in Oskaloosa. He was a 1968 graduate of Fremont High School. Following his education he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until 1972. Dave married Julie Ann West May 21, 1971 at the Oskaloosa Wesleyan Church. After David was discharged, he returned to Oskaloosa where he began working for the Oskaloosa Water Department as a meter reader. He remained there five years and then was employed by Pella Corp. Dave started his 35 year career with Pella Corp. on the line and most recently worked in the tool and dye department as the shopkeeper. He retired from Pella Corp. May 27, 2008. Dave taught Sunday school for several years at the Fremont Baptist Church and was also a member of the Baptist choir and clown group. Dave was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed Beatles music; he collected electric trains and John Deere tractors. His greatest joy was his family and cherished the time he could spend with his grandchildren.

Dave’s family includes his wife of 40 years, Julie Crile of New Sharon, Iowa; his three sons and their wives: Paul and Yvette Crile of Elschbach, Germany; Matthew and Michelle Crile of Oshkosh, WI; and Adam and Mary Crile of Bondurant, IA; seven grandchildren: Sydni, Ryan, Ally, Caden, Kiean, Benjamin and Jonathan; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Lee and Sandy Crile of Huntingdon, PA and Wayne and Sally Crile of Leighton, IA; and a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Howard Lanphier of Oskaloosa.

Besides his parents, Dave was preceded in death by two brothers: Reverend Steven Crile and Richard “Michael” Crile and a sister, Betty Richardson.

Memorials may be made in his name to his family.
