David Conover, 70 of New Sharon passed away Friday evening, November 12, 2021 at the Mill Pond Senior Center in Ankeny. Bruce David Conover, the son of Bruce and Norma (Schmidt) Conover, was born on May 20, 1951.

David graduated from Lynnville-Sully High School in 1969 and attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa.

Dave then enlisted with the United States Army serving in Germany and came back state side to finish out his service.

Following his honorable discharge, Dave worked for a couple of local farmers before working for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years in New Sharon and surrounding communities.

Dave enjoyed playing fast pitch softball for the McGriffs Softball team from New Sharon. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting. Dave had a love for the outdoors and above all spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Prairie Knolls Country Club.

His memory will be honored by his children, Ben (Tara) Conover of Lynnville, Angela (Patrick) Patterson of Walford, Caleigh (Ryan) Dowie of Winterset and Zach (Ashley) Conover of Slater; nine grandchildren, McKinley (Kobe) Fisk, Denali Conover, Alexy Conover, Nate Patterson, Max Patterson, Bryanna Dowie, Gannon Dowie, Hailey Conover and Aubrey Conover; his mother, Norma Conover of Lynnville; three sisters, Deborah Conover of Newton; Ruth (Marlo) Jansen of Sully and Laurie Conover of Chicago; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Conover and two brothers, Thomas Daniel Conover and Paul Thomas Conover.

Per Dave’s wish, the family will be holding a visitation only from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon.
A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Sully Cemetery in Sully.
Memorial contributions can be made out to Prairie Knolls Country Club.
