Culver appoints Gamon District Court Judge.

From an official press release from Governor Culver’s office:

“It is an honor to appoint Lucy Gamon as an Iowa District Court Judge,” Culver said. “Lucy has an outstanding record of service to Iowans as an Associate District Judge in the Eighth District. I want to thank her for continuing her commitment to justice through service on the Bench.”

Lucy Gamon is currently an Associate District Judge for Iowa’s Eighth Judicial District.  She attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, where she received her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in 1979. Before entering law school in 1980, Lucy worked as an economist for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington, D.C. In 1983, she received her law degree, with high distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law. Following law school, Lucy joined the Des Moines firm Davis, Hockenberg, Wine, Brown, and Koehn, where she practiced until 1986.  From 1986 to 1988, she practiced with the Boston firm Goldstein and Manello, before returning to Iowa in 1989 and joining the Waverly firm Hagemann, Goeke, and Egli.  She continued to practice here until she was appointed as an Associate District Judge. During this time, she also served as Bremer County Magistrate. In 1993, Gamon was appointed as an Associate District Judge for Iowa’s Eighth Judicial District, where she currently serves.

The vacancy was created when District Judge E. Richard Meadows retired after 12 years of service. The 8A Judicial District encompasses Poweshiek, Mahaska, Keokuk, Washington, Monroe, Wapello, Jefferson, Appanoose, Davis and Van Buren Counties.
