Iowa State University Extension

Iowa State University Extension

Learn how and the health benefits of cooking with honey from Mahaska Health Partnership’s Lea Rice RDN, LD. Lea provides inpatient and outpatient nutrition education, helping patients understand how their diet affects their overall health and well-being; including counseling patients with chronic health conditions. She is very involved in the community and enjoys sharing evidence-based nutrition information. The same evening you can also learn about Community Gardens. They are a great way to be able to garden and stay active. Learn about community gardening and other wellness programs from Mahaska Health Partnership’s Community Wellness Coordinator Ann Smith. Ann coordinates community outreach programs related to Oskaloosa’s designation as a Blue Zones community. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Science with an emphasis in Health, Wellness and Nutrition. She is also certified in Holistic Nutrition.

Both presentations will be held Tuesday March 8 at 7 pm; one after the another, at the Mahaska County Extension Office 212 North I Street, Oskaloosa. This event is open to the public and free to attend. Prior registration is not required, but appreciated.
