Community Church Teaches Service by Example

Central Reformed Church demonstrated an inspirational lesson in service with their “Made to Serve Sunday” on June 7th. The lesson was in service to others and the church united to give back to the community in place of the day’s second church service. Not a traditional service but certainly a kind of service, over 200 volunteers showed up to work on projects throughout the community. Sixty-five of those volunteers were out on the Mahaska Recreation Trail cleaning , trimming, and picking up debris or trash as needed all along the community trail. Andy Baker, the Director of Outreach and Assimilation, coordinated with MCRF to take on this refreshing lesson in service. Several volunteers started the day with the early service at the church and then volunteered in the giving service throughout the community at the second time slot in an inspiring model showing that we are “made to serve” each other. Thanks to the volunteers for the clenaing service along the trail.
