City Council approves $40,000 to assist in CAT grant
Oskaloosa, Iowa- The Oskaloosa City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening with Mayor David Krutzfeldt presiding. The meeting had been pushed back one day because of the holiday. The first item on the agenda was that of the consent agenda including the monthly claims and minutes of the previous meeting. The consent agenda was approved unanimously with a modification of removing the issue of appointing an individual to the Water Board.
The next item on the agenda was a request from MCRF for assistance in receiving CAT grant. Community support is one thing in particular that is looked at when determining what projects will get funds. As mentioned at the last City Council meeting, it was being recommended that the City and the County matching fund dollars for the project. The Supervisors had voted earlier in the day to pay $40,000 over two payments of $20,000. One payment is set to occur in Fiscal Year 2012 and one payment is set to occur in Fiscal Year 2013. After some discussion, the City Council voted unanimously to pay $40,000 at one time for the grant.
The next item was that of appointing an individual to the Water Board. The Mayor indicated at the last meeting that there have been some applicants for the Water Board however he was recommending that the action be removed from the agenda for this meeting.
Next was the issue of the franchise fees. The Council voted unanimously to continue this issue to the next meeting.
The next issue was approval of the Fiscal Year 2011 Street Finance Report. The report was approved unanimously.
The final issue was that of approval of the purchase of a new 4X4 Pickup Truck and Plow for a total cost of $30,260. The request was being submitted because the current vehicle similar to this had grown old and in was in disrepair. It was indicated that the amount being voted on was the lowest bid. The request was approved unanimously.
The Oskaloosa City Council will next meet on September 19th at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers.
