Charles Boeder, 71, of Oskaloosa passed away Saturday evening, October 17, 2015, at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

Charles “Chuck” M. Boeder, 71, of Oskaloosa passed away Saturday evening, October 17, 2015, at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa.

Charles Matthew Boeder was born, August 12th, 1944, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Clarence Boeder and Carole (Haag) Boeder.

Chuck went to Manitowoc schools and was a 1962 graduate of Lincoln High School. Chuck joined the U.S. Army, in Army Intelligence, and served three years in Okinawa, Japan. Following his discharge he earned a degree in business.

Chuck then went to work for Weyerhaeuser Company, in Cedar Rapids, IA. His position required him to travel throughout the United States and foreign countries. Chuck had a passion for cooking and attended evening cooking school for two years. While working at Weyerhaeuser, he was the person in charge of organizing food and activities at all the Hawkeye tailgating events.

After his retirement he settled in Marquette, IA. Then to keep busy he worked for Cabellas and the Lady Luck Riverboat Casino. Chuck was also a dockmaster and took care of several docks on the Mississippi. He truly loved the river and owned three boats.

After meeting Jan Mayer, he moved to Oskaloosa in the spring of 2014 to be with her. He attended Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa.

Survivors include his special friend, Jan Mayer of Oskaloosa, IA; his brothers and their families: David (& Marsha) Boeder of Green Bay, WI., William (& Christine) Boeder of Manitowoc, WI, and Mark Boeder (& special friend, Sandy Butschli) of Milwaukee, WI.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by twin brother, James Boeder; and sister, Jan Jacobson.

Funeral Services for Charles will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, at the Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Wittern of the Central United Methodist Church officiating.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Monday; the family will be present from 5-7 p.m. to greet visitors. Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Nelson Pioneer Farm Church Fund.
