Central’s Paulson second in Grand View golf tourney

ANKENY—Central College junior Sarah Paulson (Ottumwa) endured punishing winds to place second at the Grand View Invitational women’s golf tourney Monday.

Paulson shot 80-87—167 at the par-72 Briarwood Golf Course. Ali Miller (junior, Davenport, North HS) placed fifth at 82-96—178.

“All the scores were higher today,” coach Tim Wilkinson said. “You never really had a normal shot. You were either clubbing up or clubbing down and it seemed like the wind wasn’t ever directly in your face or at your back.”

The Dutch play host to the Central Spring Invitational Friday at Saturday at the par-72 Bos Landen Golf Club in Pella. Wilkinson said about five teams are expected.

“This is a chance to give every player an opportunity to compete,” Wilkinson said.
