Central’s Paulson third in Illinois golf tourney
NORMAL, ILL.—Central College junior Sarah Paulson (Ottumwa) carded a 76 and placed third at the weather-shortened Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling women’s golf tourney Sunday.
Saturday’s round was scrapped after nine holes because of cold, wet weather and the tourney was shortened to 18 holes. The Dutch were a player short but finished 16th in a 20-team field.
Paulson lost a tiebreaker for second place and finished two strokes behind the tournament medalist, Amber Conrad of Olivet (Mich.).
North Central (Ill.) fired a sizzling 315 to top the team standings. Central, the only Iowa Conference school in the field, shot 354.
Ali Miller (junior, Davenport, North HS) shot 89, while Kara Stadtlander (sophomore, Manning, IKM-Manilla HS) had 93, Allison Crooks (senior, Moline, Ill.) had 96.
A couple of Dutch golfers will compete in the Carleton (Minn.) Spring Invitational Friday and Saturday. Friday’s round starts at 10 a.m.
