Boswell releases statement on end of the war in Iraq, troops return home

Des Moines, IA – Congressman Leonard Boswell (IA-3) today released the following statement honoring our troops and praising the end of the war in Iraq:

“With the Iraq War coming to a close, we honor our brave servicemen and women for the sacrifices they and their families have made on our behalf. We must pay our respects to the thousands who have given their lives since this war began nine long years ago. We also owe it to the thousands who have returned physically and mentally wounded that deserve the best care we can possibly offer them. Just as we are ending war efforts in Iraq, we should be working towards a similar, responsible end to operations in Afghanistan so we may focus on nation building here at home by creating jobs and strengthening the middle class.”
